Patrick Prendergast is a dynamic Jamaican media professional and academic whose journey is a testament to the transformative power of education and media.  Transitioning from a talented television producer at the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC) to the esteemed Director of the Caribbean School of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Dr. Prendergast has dedicated his life to uplifting communities through the arts.

Known affectionately as 'Sammy' from the beloved JBC television drama series Lime Tree Lane, he has not only entertained audiences across the Caribbean but has also harnessed his platform to advocate for social change.


His multifaceted career encompasses creative and cultural arts, teaching, curriculum development, and educational administration, where he consistently demonstrates his commitment to empowering the next generation.


As a senior lecturer and influential researcher, Dr. Prendergast focuses on Development Communication, community media, and sustainable development, helping to shape meaningful dialogues around these essential issues. His relentless dedication to community service, evidenced by hundreds of hours committed to various projects, underscores his role as a true champion for social progress in Jamaica and beyond.
