Empathy, Elegance, and Excellence

In the vibrant village of Croft Hill, Clarendon, a star was born—Donna Marie Brooks. Raised by her beloved grandmother, Gertrude Johnson, Donna learned the values of resilience, empathy, and the importance of nurturing one's dreams early on. As a spirited young girl, she envisioned herself as a teacher, eager to inspire and shape the bright minds of the future.

Her academic journey began at Clarendon College, followed by St. Joseph’s Teachers' College, where she successfully earned a diploma in Teacher Education. Brooks began her professional career at Kellits Primary School, pouring her heart into teaching for three enriching years. However, fate had a different journey in store for her. When her plans to pursue a degree in education at the University of the West Indies, Mona hit an unexpected hurdle—enrollment had closed just a day prior—Donna Marie's spirit remained unbroken. Encouraged by a friend, she embraced a new opportunity and enrolled at CARIMAC to do Mass Communications.

Embodying tenacity, Donna thrived in her studies and successfully passed the entrance exam, opening the door to a world she hadn't anticipated. Upon graduating, she landed a coveted position as a producer-reporter at the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC) from 1995 to 1997.

Here, she was not just another voice in the newsroom; she became a beacon of storytelling, drawing on her innate ability to capture the essence of every narrative. Donna made an indelible mark at JBC, where her knack for connecting with people from all walks of life turned her reports into powerful stories that resonated with viewers. Her impactful work as a journalist showcased her dedication to authenticity and excellence, earning her the admiration of colleagues and audiences alike.

After her remarkable tenure at JBC, Donna ventured into the world of public relations. She initially served as the Public Relations Manager at Beaches Negril (a member of the Sandals Group) from 1997 to 1999, where her innovative strategies and captivating communication style helped to enhance the brand. Rising swiftly through the ranks, she became the Group PR and Communications Manager for the Sandals Group, where she was instrumental in shaping and enhancing the brand's image across the Caribbean.

In 2007, Donna took her talents to COURTS Jamaica Ltd, now Unicome Jamaica, where she spent four years as a Marketing Executive.  During this time, she successfully promoted the company's image through innovative communications strategies, public relations and promotions. Her tenure was marked by creative campaigns that showcased the brand's value and resonated with customers and employees alike. She later headed to JAMALCO, where she has been forging relationships and executing impactful communications strategies. She has since strengthened her extensive industry experience with her passion for innovation and community growth with an MBA in Business Administration from Monroe University.

Renowned for her warm nature and quick, easy laugh, she brings a lightness to the most challenging situations. Always ready with an encouraging word or a smile that can brighten anyone’s day, Donna genuinely cares about the people she works with, believing fervently that “only the best is good enough" or "if something is worth doing, give it your best effort.”

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Donna is also a fashion icon in her own right. With a classic yet head-turning sense of style, she captivates everyone she encounters. Always impeccably dressed, her wardrobe is a stunning blend of elegance and personal flair, showcasing her keen eye for trendsetting fashion. Whether at a corporate event or a casual gathering, Donna’s presence is magnetic, leaving a lasting impression that goes beyond her words. She also demonstrates that success does not have to affect family life. She has always put family first and has always maintained a proper work-life balance.

Donna Marie Brooks is not just a name but a sterling example of resilience, creativity, and compassion. From her early aspiration to teach to her impactful career in media and public relations, and dedication to family, she continues to inspire those around her with an unwavering commitment to excellence and her heartfelt desire to lift others as she climbs. Every step of her journey is filled with laughter, encouragement, and an unmistakable flair for style, making her a truly remarkable force in her field.
